Angela McCormack MBACP, UKCP Reg

Qualifications

I graduated from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education CCPE, London, where I completed a five year Diploma course in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2006. The course, which specialises in Transpersonal Psychotherapy, is accredited with both the BACP and UKCP. My professional interest began in the early 1990s when I completed two years' part-time study in Counselling Skills and Theory from CSCT.  Currently, I am in the process of completing my additional Diploma studies in Psychotherapy Supervision.

Experience

I have been working with individuals and groups in counselling & psychotherapy since 1999. Over the years, I have worked with clients, young and old, on a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, stress, abuse, life-crisis, addiction, gender identity, self-harming, eating disorders, sexuality, grief, relationship problems, anger, mental health issues, personal growth and life-direction.

In addition to my private practice in Wellington, I work for a Bristol-based charity with people who have been sexually abused, using both one to one and group-work. (www.the-green-house.org.uk)

I also co-facilitate a long-term psychotherapy group for women which meets fortnightly in Glastonbury. (For further information see www.group-psychotherapy.net)

Biography

Following an initial career working in electronic engineering, I took a theology degree and then moved into the charity/not-for-profit sector where I developed my management and business skills. For a number of years I was a Director of ChildLine, the confidential telephone counselling service for children and young people. As well as being a volunteer counsellor for ChildLine for over five years, I have experience in recruiting and training counsellors for the telephone service. In addition to my current practice as a therapist, I also work as an Independent Charity Consultant. Additionally, I am a Director of TAP a South West Based Charity providing continuing professional development opportunities for local counsellors and psychotherapists.

Professional Membership and Standards

I have professional membership of both UKCP and the BACP  (MBACP). I have regular supervision with a very experienced supervisor and therapist, to ensure that I am working in a healthy and professional way at all times. I keep a fresh approach to my work by undertaking regular ongoing professional development opportunities (via workshops and training courses etc). I always work within the latest ethical frameworks of both UKCP and BACP.
